Apparently I'm a Top 10 ProAdvisor Now. Here's the Part That Actually Matters.

I'll be honest: "guru" is not a word I ever expected to see next to my name. It usually belongs to people hosting wellness retreats or selling manifestation courses. And yet, here we are.

This year, Insightful Accountant, a leading publication for the accounting profession, recognized me as one of its Top 10 ProAdvisors, awarding me the Top Social Media Guru designation as part of its annual Top 100 ProAdvisor Awards. For an accounting firm whose idea of a good time is a clean reconciliation and a P&L that finally tells the truth, this is a genuinely lovely surprise.

Awards like this aren't really about posting a lot. They're about whether people actually find the content useful. It happens because people show up, read the thing, share it, argue with it in the comments, and send it to a business-owner friend who "really needs to see this." So thank you—to everyone who's followed along, to the clients who let us geek out about their inventory and Shopify payouts, and to Insightful Accountant for the recognition.

Why We Do It At All

The whole reason we're loud on social media is the same reason we do the rest of our work: clean books turn into clear decisions. Most of the content that seems to resonate isn't clever—it's just honest. It answers the questions business owners are already asking. Why your deposit doesn't equal your revenue. Why inventory is cash you can't see. Why "we had a great sales month" and "we can afford to hire" are two very different sentences.

If explaining that stuff well is what makes someone a "guru," we'll take it—even if we still feel a little silly about the title. 😉

Thanks are also owed to the team here at NetDeposited, who tolerate my need to turn every landed-cost headache into a teachable moment. Half of what we started posting in the first place started with a conversation we’d had with a real founder who thought their profit was "whatever's left in the bank." (Spoiler: it usually isn't. But that's a post for another day.)

So, we'll keep posting the unglamorous, genuinely useful stuff. If you've found any of it helpful, that's the real win here, and we're grateful for it.

And if all this talk of margins, inventory, and payouts has you wondering whether your own numbers are telling the truth—that's exactly the conversation we love to have, and we’d love to talk!

Thanks again. Now, back to the reconciliations.
